Last week was a great week in Earth Science.  SOL ES.1 c-d.  We learned about maps, contour lines, topography, how to determine the latitude and longitude of a location, and much more!

Over the next few weeks, we will focus on rocks and minerals.

The SOL strand covered in this unit is ES.5, student will investigate and understand how to identify major rock-forming and ore minerals based on physical and chemical properties. Key concepts include a) hardness, color and streak, luster, cleavage, fracture, and unique properties; and b) uses of minerals.

We will work out of the book, as well as supplemental materials.  We look forward to a lot of learning over the next few weeks!
